AFC Leopards tightened the pressure at the top of the FKF Premier League standings after producing a composed and efficient performance to beat Ulinzi Stars 2-0 in a rain-soaked midweek clash at Nyayo National Stadium.
The rescheduled Round 31 fixture was played under difficult wet conditions, but Ingwe handled the occasion with maturity, combining defensive discipline with clinical finishing to secure three valuable points that cut the gap on leaders Gor Mahia to just four points with only three matches left in the season.
Leopards started brightly and looked determined to impose themselves early. Victor Omune was lively from the opening whistle and forced the Ulinzi goalkeeper into two quick saves within the first five minutes. Kayci Odhiambo also attempted to test the Soldiers from a free-kick, but his effort drifted wide.
Despite the fast start from Ingwe, Ulinzi Stars slowly settled into the contest and began enjoying more possession in midfield. Their best opportunity of the first half arrived in the 20th minute when Nyongesa burst through on goal in a one-on-one situation, only for AFC Leopards goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi to pull off an excellent save to keep the scores level.
Moments later, Nyongesa again caused problems with a dangerous delivery into the area, but Kayci reacted sharply to clear the danger behind for a corner. Ulinzi continued to push forward, with Staphod leading another promising attack down the right flank before Vincent Mahiga intervened with a crucial block.
Just when the Soldiers appeared to be gaining momentum, AFC Leopards struck at the perfect moment. In the 43rd minute, Kelly Madada reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the six-yard area and calmly fired home to hand Ingwe a crucial lead heading into the halftime break.

Ulinzi attempted to respond after the restart, making several tactical adjustments in midfield and attack. Emilio Brian was introduced before Musambai and Odhiambo were also thrown into the action as the hosts searched for a way back into the game.
However, Leopards remained dangerous on transition. Mousa Oundo nearly doubled the advantage just after the hour mark, but his shot found the side netting. Tyson Otieno also came close in the 70th minute, only for the Ulinzi goalkeeper to deny him with a timely save.
The decisive second goal eventually arrived in the 82nd minute. Emmanuel Lwangu rose highest inside the box to power home a commanding header and effectively seal the victory for Ingwe.
Leopards professionally managed the closing stages through seven minutes of added time, with Madada nearly grabbing his second goal deep into stoppage time before his effort was saved.
The victory keeps AFC Leopards firmly in the title conversation heading into the final stretch of the campaign, while Ulinzi Stars find themselves sinking deeper into relegation trouble after another damaging defeat.
With only three rounds remaining, the race at both ends of the table is becoming increasingly intense. Just four points separate the top two sides, while the battle to avoid the drop remains dangerously tight.
