NSL Resumes This Weekend as Final Promotion Spot Awaits Playoff Decider

After a thrilling opening round, the FKF National Super League (NSL) resumes this weekend with a full slate of matchday two fixtures spread across the country. With early pace-setters looking to build momentum and debutants aiming to find their footing, the 2025/26 season is already showing signs of being one of the most tightly contested in recent memory.

On Saturday, Naivas FC will look to make it two wins in two when they host MCF FC at KIHBT Grounds in Ngong. The retail-backed side edged Fortune Sacco in their opener and will hope to extend their perfect start. Elsewhere, Nzoia Sugar FC travel to Wundayi to face Mwatate United, while MOFA, fresh off a surprise win over Nairobi City Stars ,face Vihiga United in Kisumu. Promoted side Kabati Youth FC will continue their top-tier debut away at Equity Bank FC in Kawangware.

Sunday features some high-stakes clashes as well. FC Talanta face a stern test against Migori Youth at Dandora Stadium in an early kickoff, while Nairobi City Stars, who were shocked by MOFA in their opener, welcome Luanda Villa to Kenyatta Stadium needing a response. Kisumu All Stars host Kibera Black Stars, while Mombasa United take on Fortune Sacco at Serani Sports Complex. 3K FC face Darajani Gogo FC in Embu to round out the weekend action.

However, not all teams will be in action this weekend. Gucha Stars, whose dramatic promotion to the NSL was confirmed earlier this week following an FKF ruling on their abandoned playoff match against Nakuru Bucks, are still awaiting scheduling clarity. The club will sit out this round as logistical and administrative arrangements are finalized.

Meanwhile, one final promotion spot remains undecided. The FKF Division One promotion playoff between Bumbani Stars and Soy United is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8th at Dandora Stadium, with kickoff set for 2:00 PM.

The winner will join Gucha Stars and Kabati Youth in completing the 20-team NSL lineup for the season. The playoff promises to be a high-stakes, winner-takes-all clash with second-tier football on the line.
