Saturday’s only fixture takes place at the Coast where Bandari FC welcome Murang’a SEAL to Mbaraki Stadium. The Dockers, who have endured a poor start to the campaign, head into this clash under new technical leadership following the sacking of head coach Ken Odhiambo. Long-serving assistant coach John Baraza has now taken over in an acting capacity, and all eyes will be on whether the change triggers an immediate turnaround in fortunes. Murang’a SEAL, meanwhile, arrive buoyed by their 2–0 away win over APS Bomet last weekend. It was a timely response after losing their opening game at home to Ulinzi Stars, and they’ll now be looking to string together positive results both home and away.
Sunday features a packed schedule of five fixtures, kicking off early with Mathare United hosting Kariobangi Sharks at Kasarani Annex in a lunchtime fixture. At Dandora Stadium also from 3pm , KCB locks horns with Gor Mahia in a high-stakes encounter between two sides with ambitions of challenging for the title. Gor Mahia, meanwhile, recovered from their shock loss on opening day with a commanding 2–0 win over Sofapaka, and head into this clash on a high following back-to-back off-field morale boosts.
On Thursday afternoon, Cabinet Secretary for Sports Salim Mvurya made an impromptu visit to Gor Mahia’s training session while on a routine inspection of the tartan track works at Nyayo Stadium. The CS spent time with the team and left them with a cash token of Ksh 300,000.
A day later, the club’s top officials paid a courtesy call to patron Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, who hosted the delegation and pledged his continued support. The meeting concluded with the club receiving Ksh 10 million from the patron to support its administrative operations as the season gains pace.
