President William Ruto’s senior economic adviser, Moses Kuria, has thrown his weight behind the newly launched Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), unveiled today in Lavington, Nairobi. The party, closely linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, signals a bold new entry into Kenya’s political scene.
Kuria, a seasoned political strategist and former legislator, hailed the DCP as a continuation of the country’s long fight for political inclusivity. “This is not just another party,” he remarked, recalling his role in the historic repeal of Section 2A and the rise of multi-party democracy in Kenya. “It’s a movement that resonates with the struggles and aspirations of ordinary Kenyans.”
The DCP, officially registered on February 3, 2025, is preparing for a full-scale national launch in June. Its symbolic logo—a hand cupping an ear—echoes the party’s rallying cry: Kazi na Haki (Work and Justice). The party colors—green, brown, and black—reflect themes of growth, resilience, and rooted identity.
Kuria’s endorsement gives the DCP a strategic boost as it positions itself as a fresh alternative in the lead-up to 2027. With political realignments already in motion, the emergence of the DCP could reshape the landscape, especially with influential figures like Kuria lending their voice to the cause.
