KRA Reminds Transporters to Renew Customs Licenses by October 31

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a reminder to all transporters handling transit goods (C28) and other goods under customs control (C40) to renew their licenses ahead of the December 31, 2025 expiry date.

In a public notice released Monday, KRA directed that renewal applications must be submitted no later than October 31, 2025, in line with Section 244 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004, and Regulations 104 and 210 of the EAC Customs Management Regulations, 2010.

“Deadline Alert! Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) reminds all Transporters conveying Transit Goods (C28) and Other Goods under Customs Control (C40) that their licenses will expire on 31st December 2025. Renewal deadline is on October 31, 2025,” the notice read.

Application Requirements
Applicants are required to submit:

  • A copy of the motor vehicle logbook
  • A valid insurance certificate
  • A COMESA Yellow Card (for foreign vehicles)
  • A duly completed application form signed and stamped by a Customs Officer

Successful applicants will pay a license fee equivalent to USD 200 per license, payable in Kenyan shillings.

Applications can be lodged at KRA Customs regional offices in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, and at Times Tower, Nairobi.

KRA urged transporters to act within the set timelines to avoid delays or disruptions in operations.

Transporters have also been encouraged to log in to iTax using their ID numbers for license-related services.
