Gor Mahia FC, Kenya’s most decorated football club, has unveiled ambitious plans to construct a state-of-the-art 60,000-seater stadium in Lukenya, Machakos County. This development marks a significant milestone in the club’s journey towards establishing a permanent home and elevating its stature in African football.
The announcement was made during a site visit led by club officials and government representatives, including ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo. Owalo emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the project, highlighting its potential to transform the club’s fortunes and contribute to the nation’s sports infrastructure.

The proposed stadium is part of a broader vision to develop a comprehensive sports complex that includes a clubhouse, training facilities, and fitness centers. This initiative aligns with the government’s broader strategy to enhance sports facilities in preparation for hosting major continental tournaments.
Gor Mahia’s chairman, Ambrose Rachier, expressed optimism about the project, noting that the acquisition of land for the stadium is a significant step towards realizing the club’s long-term goals. He also acknowledged the support from sponsors like Goma Lotto, which is crucial for the project’s financing.

This development comes on the heels of recent improvements in the club’s logistics, including the donation of a new team bus by CS Owalo, further bolstering the team’s preparations for upcoming competitions.
As Gor Mahia charts this bold future, the proposed stadium stands as a symbol of the club’s resilience and ambition, promising to be a beacon of excellence in Kenyan and African football in kenya
