Former Deputy President and Democratic Congress Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has launched a blistering attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of double standards in both foreign policy and domestic governance.

Speaking during a church service at Jesus Exaltation Church Bethsaida in Kaputie North Ward, Kajiado East, Gachagua criticized Ruto’s recent address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), branding it hypocritical and inconsistent.

He questioned the President’s call for a ceasefire in Sudan, alleging that Ruto has been linked to enabling the very conflict he now condemns.

“This double-speak exposes the inconsistency of the President’s international diplomacy and his approach to governance at home,” Gachagua charged.

The opposition leader further accused Ruto of sending police officers to restore order in Haiti while allegedly supporting gangs used to silence opposition voices in Kenya.

He also faulted the President for what he termed insensitivity in handling the deaths of Kenyan officers serving in Haiti, saying their names were announced publicly before their families were informed.

Turning to domestic politics, Gachagua urged Kenyan youth to participate in the voter registration exercise beginning Monday, warning that their failure to register would weaken their ability to influence the 2027 General Election.

He called on the middle class to overcome political apathy and engage more actively in electoral processes.

On opposition unity, Gachagua dismissed reports of cracks within the coalition, insisting it remains intact and united ahead of 2027. He ruled out the possibility of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka or DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa joining the government, saying both have reaffirmed their commitment to staying in the opposition.
