Authorities have launched an intensive search for a middle-aged man accused of brutally murdering his nine-month-old daughter following a domestic dispute at Ikanga Market in Mutomo sub-county on Wednesday night.​

According to Ikanga Location Chief Onesmus Mutaula, the suspect allegedly strangled his infant daughter, then used a kitchen knife to slit her throat. He reportedly disposed of the body in a pit latrine before fleeing the scene.​

This incident has sent shockwaves through the Ikanga community, with residents expressing deep concern over the escalating cases of domestic violence in the area. Local law enforcement agencies are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspect.​

The body of the infant has been retrieved and transported to the Mutomo Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, counseling services are being arranged for the grieving mother and affected family members.

Authorities are urging individuals facing domestic challenges to seek mediation and support from community leaders or professional counselors, emphasizing that violence is never a solution.
