An examination malpractice case involving a 30-year-old private candidate taking her KCSE examinations at Nyanchwa Boys High School is being looked into by police in Nyanchwa, Kisii County.
An unnamed guy was observed by a KNEC examination official placing a password-protected mobile phone beside a classroom window next to the examination center on Tuesday when candidates were taking the Mathematics Paper 2, according to police.
The KNEC representative questioned the candidates to find out who owned the phone after they had completed the math exam.
According to reports, the private candidate gave up ownership of the phone.
KNEC officials found out after disclosing the password to the device that the math test the students had just completed had been shared on four separate WhatsApp groups on the aforementioned phone before the test.
Since then, authorities have seized the cell phone and are questioning the private student.
