Dismus Mukua Triumphs in Rain-Soaked Kenya Air Force Golf Club Championship

Under rainy Nairobi skies at Moi Air Base in Eastleigh, the fairways of the Kenya Air Force Golf Club set the stage for a grand finale that had been seven months in the making. What began as a steady build-up of competition across different courses culminated in a gripping championship showdown on March 22, 2026, where precision, patience and composure would ultimately define the winner.

At the heart of it all stood Dismus Mukua, whose performance across the final round reflected both control and consistency. Mukua pieced together a composed display to outplay defending champion Don Tororei, who had entered the final with hopes of retaining his title. Despite a strong push, Tororei was edged out as Mukua maintained his rhythm across the course. Fredrick Wagura and Patrick Kinywa followed closely, finishing as second and third runners-up after solid performances in a competitive field.

The championship drew participation from across the country, with golfers representing clubs such as Thika Barracks Golf Club, Kisii Golf Club and Ruiru Sports Club. Their presence added depth to a tournament that has steadily grown in both reach and competitiveness over the past months.

Backed by Vivo Energy Kenya, the championship continues to benefit from sustained corporate support aimed at strengthening the game locally. Speaking during the award ceremony, Commercial Manager Mark Senteu noted that the partnership is built on a vision of supporting communities while creating opportunities for players to develop and showcase their talent.

Chairman Evans Oduma underscored the value of that partnership, saying, “We appreciate Vivo Energy Kenya for partnering with us over the past three years, and we look forward to continuing this relationship as we grow the championship and provide a stronger platform for golfers to compete and develop.”

Elsewhere, the event celebrated excellence across multiple categories. Ayub Shitesewa emerged as the guest winner ahead of competitors from Ruiru and Thika, while Anita Nyaguto stood out among the juniors. Wesonga claimed top honors in the senior category, as Joy Njangi and Wafula Bwire secured victories in the ladies’ and men’s categories respectively. Harun Wanyama delivered the best overall score to emerge as the gross winner.

As the event drew to a close, Mukua’s triumph stood out as the defining highlight, marking not just a personal milestone but also reinforcing the growing stature of the championship within Kenya’s golfing scene.
