DCI Volleyball Players Rewarded with Promotions After Historic Season

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Volleyball Team is celebrating a double victory success on the court and recognition in service after several players and their coach were promoted within the Police Service.

Head coach Patrick Sang, credited with transforming the DCI Queens into one of Kenya’s top volleyball sides, has been promoted from Corporal to Sergeant. Under his leadership, the team finished second in the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) League, securing their maiden qualification for the African Club Championships, and placed fourth in the inaugural Kenya Cup Volleyball Tournament.

Team captain Jane Mumbua and teammates Caroline Sirengo, Sarah Namisi, Mercy Iminza, and Peris Kanus have also been promoted, rising from Police Constable to Corporal.

Team Manager Madam Neddy Kilimo welcomed the promotions, saying they reflected both sporting achievement and professional discipline.

“These promotions are not just about sports, but also about the hard work, discipline, and leadership our players demonstrate daily. They will motivate the team to strive even harder both in service and in sport,” she said.

The DCI Queens have enjoyed a breakthrough 2024/25 season, showcasing resilience and determination. Their silver-medal finish in the KVF League marked a historic step as they booked a ticket to continental competition.

Individually, the squad also excelled. Sarah Namisi was named Best Server, while Sharon Jeruto claimed the Best Outside Hitter award. Namisi and opposite hitter Mercy Iminza further earned call-ups to the national team, the Malkia Strikers, ahead of the World Championships.

With promotions boosting morale and a continental debut on the horizon, the DCI Queens are poised to extend their inspiring journey — proving that discipline, teamwork, and commitment pay off both in service and in sport.
