Kenya Police Bullets are one victory away from securing a historic place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after powering past South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars 5-0 in the CECAFA regional qualifier semi-final in Kigali, Rwanda, on Saturday.

The WPL champions produced another commanding performance at Kigali Pele Stadium, maintaining their perfect record in the competition while booking their place in the regional final against Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies.

Police Bullets made their intentions clear from the opening exchanges and took the lead after just 10 minutes when Tereza Engesha capitalized on a defensive mistake by Yei Joint Stars.

The South Sudanese side, who had progressed to the knockout stage unbeaten, found themselves under sustained pressure as Police’s quick passing and movement caused problems across the pitch.

Yei captain Sumaya Malili Taban Noah came close to restoring parity but sent her effort wide, as Bullets continued to dictate the tempo.

Police doubled their advantage four minutes after the half-hour mark when Martha Amunyolete Emedot rose highest to connect with a well-delivered ball and head past goalkeeper Nawal Isaac Henry Majok.

The strike was Emedot’s third goal of the tournament and gave Police a comfortable two-goal advantage going into the interval.

Rather than easing off after the restart, Police returned with even greater intensity and soon stretched their lead further.

Lorna Nyarinda produced a moment of quality in the 55th minute, curling a superb free-kick beyond the reach of the Yei goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

With Yei struggling to cope with the relentless pressure, Police continued to create opportunities and were rewarded again in the 75th minute.

Emedot stepped up to take a penalty and made no mistake, completing her brace and effectively putting the contest beyond the South Sudanese side.

There was still time for another memorable moment in the closing stages when substitute Rebecca Okwaro came off the bench to add a fifth in the 88th minute.

Okwaro’s goal carried an added significance, coming just a day after she was passed out as a Kenya Police constable, making her contribution to the emphatic victory even more special.

The result sends Police Bullets into the CECAFA final with their unbeaten record intact and their continental ambitions firmly on course.

They will face Kawempe Muslim Ladies, who secured their place in the final with a 3-0 victory over CBE FC in the other semi-final.

The final will determine the CECAFA region’s representative at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
