Nairobi, Kenya – June 2025
In a groundbreaking development for African football, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed that Nairobi, Kenya, will host the grand finale of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), with matches set to be played across four East African cities; Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Kampala, and Zanzibar. This marks a historic first for the region, as CHAN returns with a unique tri-nation hosting format, showcasing East Africa’s growing stature in continental football.
A Regional Collaboration for African Football
The 2024 CHAN tournament, exclusive to players featuring in their domestic leagues, will kick off on Saturday, August 2, 2025, with the opening match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The tournament will climax on August 30, 2025, with the final showdown scheduled at the iconic Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani in Nairobi, Kenya. The third-place playoff will take place at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.
The event spans four dynamic East African host cities, giving fans across the region the opportunity to witness elite African home-based talent in action.
Confirmed Host Cities and Group Allocations
CAF also confirmed the group stage allocations for the 18-nation tournament, divided into four groups across the co-hosting cities:
Group A (Nairobi Kenya)
Group B (Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania)
Group C (Kampala , Uganda)
Group D(Zanzibar, Tanzania)
The tournament is scheduled to run from August 2nd to August 30th, 2025, promising four action-packed weeks of football, culture, and continental pride.
