A businessman accused of defrauding young job seekers of over Ksh.10 million by promising them employment opportunities in Canada has been arrested in Eldoret.
The suspect allegedly collected substantial sums from individuals aspiring to work abroad, assuring them of job placements in Canada. However, investigations revealed that these promises were fraudulent, leading to his arrest.
This incident highlights a concerning trend of overseas job scams in Eldoret. Earlier, seven individuals were apprehended in a joint operation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other security agencies for their involvement in similar fraudulent activities.
Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of any overseas job offers to prevent falling victim to such scams
