Safaricom admitted the failure of their mobile payment service, M-Pesa PayBill.
In a notification sent on Tuesday morning, the mobile network operator stated that it was experiencing regular service interruptions that have impacted certain PayBill payments.
“We are experiencing a recurring service intermittency affecting some PayBill payments. The issue is under resolution by our technical team, we shall inform you once normal services resume,” Safaricom said.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience.”
Since Monday, some M-Pesa users have reported being unable to make payments to the national power supplier Kenya Power, as well as bank-to-mobile transfers.
Later that evening, the teleco reported that the technical issue had been fixed.
“We experienced service intermittency with PayBill payments that resulted in some transactions not being completed on M-PESA. The technical issue has since been resolved and we continue to monitor the services closely,” Safaricom said in a Monday 7:30 PM notice.
