President William Ruto officially launched the WRC Safari Rally 2024 race at Nairobi’s Kenyatta International Conventional Centre (KICC).
Speaking before flagging off the racing cars on Thursday, Ruto said the prestigious motor racing event comes as a “truly special Easter holiday gift to millions of families to bond over a thrilling spectacle.”
“You really can’t find a rally as tough, compelling, beautiful and rewarding as the one in Kenya,” Ruto added.
He stated that Kenya has made world-class preparations to deliver top-tier racing grounds and enjoyable events throughout the shakedown, which runs from today, March 28, to Sunday, March 31.
Carl ‘Flash’ Tundo, a five-time Safari Rally champion, as well as ARC African Continent race champions Karani Patel, Hamza Anwar, Aakif Virani, and Sommah Vohra, will compete in the event.
The drivers will also demonstrate their superiority over their international counterparts in a special demonstration in Kasarani today before traveling to Naivasha, Nakuru county, where the event will take place.
The second round of the vehicle racing competition will take place tomorrow (Friday) in the locations of Lodia, Geothermal, and Kedong, with two rounds.
On Saturday, attendees may enjoy two rounds of racing from Soysambu to Elementaita and Sleeping Warior.
On Sunday, the driver’s racing field will be 36 km long, beginning in Malewa, Oserengoni and concluding with two circuits at Hells Gate.
The Safari Rally Kenya, one of the most difficult events in World Rally Championship history, is well-known for its difficult terrain and hard weather.
