Migori Youth returned to winning ways with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Gucha Stars at the Awendo Green Stadium, a result that restored their place at the summit of the FKF National Super League standings after Round Seven.
Both sides went into the encounter eager to recover from defeats in the previous round , Migori having fallen 3–2 to Equity Bank, while Gucha suffered a similar 3–2 loss at home to Fortune Sacco. The stakes were high, with the hosts level on points with Kibera Black Stars and determined to keep their promotion charge alive.
Gucha started brightly, pressing high and drawing the first booking of the afternoon when Yusuf Saka went into the referee’s book in the 26th minute for a late tackle. Migori responded with their trademark fluid play down the flanks, but defender Tyson Omondi soon joined the caution list for a tactical foul four minutes later.

The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when a Gucha defender handled the ball inside the box, prompting the referee to point to the spot. Amid protests, Gucha’s Lawrence Agage was booked for dissent, but Syphas Otieno , Migori’s man in form stepped up confidently to send the goalkeeper the wrong way and put the hosts 1–0 up. It was his fourth goal of the campaign and a deserved reward for a side that had dominated possession and territory.
The second half saw Gucha attempt to wrestle back control, but Migori’s defensive discipline stood out. Sebastian Okumu, making his first start of the season, was booked early after a minor altercation, while Syphas was also shown yellow for a strong challenge in midfield. Despite Gucha’s late push and several nervy moments, the hosts managed the game expertly. Geoffrey Odira’s tactical foul in the 85th minute earned him a booking, but it also helped break up a dangerous counter as Migori held firm to the final whistle.
The narrow victory, grounded in teamwork and defensive resilience, returned Migori Youth to the top of the table with 16 points, one clear of Kibera Black Stars, who were beaten 1–0 at home by Equity Bank. It was a result that reaffirmed Migori’s title credentials and restored belief after a challenging week.
Elsewhere, Equity Bank continued their fine form with another major scalp, edging Kibera Black Stars 1–0 at Hope Center in Kawangware. The bankers’ well-organized display saw them claim their second straight victory against a top side, following last weekend’s triumph over Migori Youth. The defeat, meanwhile, saw Kibera drop to second place, level on points with Naivas FC but behind on goal difference.
Saturday’s action saw Naivas FC maintain their unbeaten home record with a 2–1 victory over Soy United at KIHBT Grounds in Ngong. Naivas took the lead late in the first half before Soy’s Alfred Ratolo equalized shortly after the restart. However, Emmanuel Lunalo’s penalty in the 66th minute restored Naivas’ advantage, ensuring they stayed firmly in the top-three mix.
At the Sports Complex in Ndalani, MCF registered a crucial 1–0 win over MOFA thanks to a second-half penalty by Roro. It was a relief for MCF after several draws in recent weeks, while MOFA’s struggles in front of goal continued. Meanwhile, Luanda Villa stunned FC Talanta 1–0 at Ruaraka Grounds, producing one of the round’s standout results as they clawed their way back toward mid-table.
Sunday’s fixtures offered no shortage of talking points. In Embu, 3K FC defeated Kisumu All Stars 2–0, with first-half goals from Alex Kazungu and Oscar Juma sealing a routine win that solidified their position in the top half. Kisumu remain winless after seven matches and continue to occupy the lower end of the table.

At Kianyaga Stadium, Fortune Sacco were denied victory by a last-gasp equalizer from Nairobi City Stars in a 1–1 draw. Barasa’s curling free kick in the 34th minute looked to have secured all three points, but Timothy Muganda’s 90th-minute strike rescued City Stars at the death.
In Wundanyi, Mwatate United recorded their first win of the campaign, beating Kabati Youth 1–0 courtesy of Salim’s well-taken goal in the 52nd minute after an assist from substitute Mwaura. The result lifted Mwatate off the bottom and injected much-needed confidence into their season.
At Sudi Stadium in Bungoma, Nzoia Sugar and Vihiga United shared the spoils in a cagey goalless draw, both sides cancelling each other out in a match short on clear chances but full of effort.
After seven rounds, the title race remains wide open. Migori Youth’s return to winning ways has reignited their momentum, Equity Bank’s rise adds a new layer of intrigue, and Naivas continue to quietly apply pressure near the top. With just a handful of points separating the leading pack, the 2025/26 National Super League is fast proving to be one of the most fiercely contested in recent years.
