Machakos Gears Up for FKF Technical Centre Launch

The long-awaited groundbreaking ceremony for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Technical Centre is set for mid-June 2025 in Machakos County. This milestone marks the commencement of a transformative project aimed at revolutionizing football development in Kenya.

In a recent site visit, FKF Secretary General Harold Ndege, accompanied by other federation officials, toured the expansive 20-acre facility located on the outskirts of Machakos town. The center, funded by FIFA through the Forward 3.0 program, is a significant investment in Kenya’s sporting infrastructure.

The Machakos Technical Centre will feature three football pitches—one natural grass and two artificial turf—along with an administration block equipped with offices and conference rooms. Additionally, the facility will include accommodation and medical amenities to support the holistic development of players, coaches, and referees.

FKF President Nick Mwendwa emphasized the importance of such infrastructure in nurturing young talent and reducing operational costs associated with hiring external training venues. He expressed gratitude to Governor Wavinya Ndeti and the Machakos County Government for their collaboration and support in bringing this project to fruition.

Governor Ndeti highlighted the project’s potential to create employment opportunities and enhance the county’s reputation as a hub for football excellence. She expressed optimism that the center would inspire local youth to pursue football professionally and contribute to the national team’s success.

The establishment of the FKF Technical Centre aligns with FIFA’s mandate for all member associations to develop such facilities. Kenya’s commitment to this initiative underscores its dedication to elevating football standards and fostering a conducive environment for talent development.

As the groundbreaking ceremony approaches, anticipation builds for the commencement of a project that promises to shape the future of Kenyan football.
