The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced a temporary closure of Jamuhuri Road this weekend.
This is to allow the construction of key drainage and sewerage infrastructure linked to the ongoing Talanta Sports City Project at the Jamuhuri Sports Grounds.
According to a public notice issued by KURA Director General Silas Kinoti, the road will remain closed from 8pm on Friday, October 10, to 11 pm on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
“The closure will facilitate construction of essential drainage and sewer infrastructure as part of the Talanta Sports City Project,” said the Authority.
“Motorists are advised to use Sanctuary Road and Kibera Drive as alternative routes.”
KURA assured Nairobi residents that traffic marshals will be stationed along affected routes to ease movement during the closure and minimise inconvenience to motorists.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the public for their cooperation as we implement these critical upgrades,” the Authority said.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and follow signage during the temporary closure period.
