Kenya Power has confirmed a nationwide outage on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

The power provider blamed the loss on a suspected breakdown in its system in a statement issued late Sunday night, adding that attempts to restore electricity were underway.

“We have lost electricity supply to various parts of the country due to a suspected fault affecting the power supply.

“We are working to restore normalcy within the shortest time possible. An update on the restoration progress will be issued in due course,” Kenya Power said in a statement.

This is not the first time the country has been thrown into darkness this year. On August 25, there was a widespread blackout that affected vital national infrastructure like as the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
