Kenya Power has stated that the anticipated upgrade to the prepaid token selling system was completed satisfactorily.
The company said the upgrade was finished Monday at 10 p.m., and prepaid users can now purchase electricity tokens.
“Our prepaid customers can now buy their electricity tokens via all payment channels including M-PESA Paybill number 888880, Airtel Money and banking channels,” the company said.
The utility firm expressed its appreciation to all its customers for their patience and understanding during the interruption.
“We assure Kenyans that we are committed to continuously improving our services to better their needs.”
KPLC earlier informed the public via a statement that the prepaid token vending service would be unavailable on Sunday and Monday (June 2 and 3, 2024).
It further stated that this would be caused by a system upgrade scheduled for the time period.
“We wish to advise our pre-paid customers to buy enough tokens before then to avoid any inconvenience,” the statement read.
Kenya Power said the service outage will be on all vending points.
“During this period, customers will not be able to buy electricity tokens from all vending points including Kenya Power offices, M-PESA Paybill number 888880, Airtel Money and banking channels,” it said.
