Just days after a heartbreaking end to their 2024/25 campaign, Gor Mahia has announced the dismissal of the entire technical bench, including members of the club’s security team, in a sweeping move signaling a new chapter for the Kenyan giants.

In an official press statement released this morning, club chairman Advocate Ambrose Rachier confirmed that the decision was arrived at “mutually and in good faith,” following a comprehensive internal review.
“It has been mutually agreed with the entire technical bench , including members of the club’s security ,to part ways, effective 2nd July 2025,” the statement read.
The announcement comes in the wake of a disappointing season that saw the club fail to defend the FKF Premier League title and also lose the Mozzart Bet Cup final to National Super League side Nairobi United; a defeat that dashed hopes of continental qualification. Gor Mahia had one last chance to salvage silverware and secure a CAF Confederation Cup spot, but fell 2–1 in the final after missing a crucial penalty late in the game.
Chairman Rachier emphasized that the decision is part of a broader restructuring plan aimed at rebuilding the team both on and off the pitch ahead of the 2025/26 season.
This decision follows a comprehensive internal review and is part of club broader restructuring process aimed at strengthening it’s technical and operation capacity in preparation of 2025/26 season. The separation has been reached amicably and with appreciation for the contributions made by the outgoing staff,” he noted
While no names were specifically mentioned in the statement, the decision means head coach Zedekiah “Zico” Otieno and his entire support staff ; including , Team Manager, Assistants, goalkeeping Coach, fitness trainers, and security personnel , are all leaving their roles with immediate effect.

The sackings mark the latest twist in what has been a turbulent year for Gor Mahia, a club with a decorated history and one of the largest Fanbase in East Africa. The fans had shown unwavering support, with thousands filling Ulinzi Sports Complex during the Mozzart Bet Cup final , only to be left in tears as Nairobi United, a newly promoted side, lifted the trophy.
The club is now expected to begin an immediate search for a new technical team to take charge of pre-season preparations. With the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season expected to kick off in a few months, the pressure will be on the management to appoint the right personnel and turn fortunes around.
