NAIROBI, Kenya 16TH September — carrying a name steeped in Nyanza’s storied political history, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Youth, Brian Midiwo is setting his sights on Nairobi’s high-stakes parliamentary arena.
Rooted in the legacy of the late Gem Member of Parliament, Washington Jakoyo Midiwo, the younger Midiwo is charting a fresh path in urban governance, positioning himself as a candidate for the Lang’ata constituency parliamentary seat come 2027 general election.
Transitioning political focus from rural strongholds like Gem to a metropolitan constituency like Lang’ata presents unique political dynamics. While traditional rural politics often hinges on regional party allegiance and grassroots community structures, Lang’ata demands an adaptable strategy. The constituency stands as one of the capital’s most socio-economically diverse regions, showing an interest in different cultures such as Karen and South C alongside vibrant informal settlements including Kibra-adjacent neighborhoods and Dam Estate.
Brian Omondi Midiwo’s political main agenda is youth and Women empowerment, Economic inclusion and modern urban legislative oversight.
