Former Kisumu Town West MP, Rev. Kenn Nyagudi, Dies at Kenyatta National Hospital

Former Kisumu Town West Member of Parliament, Reverend Kenn Nyagudi, has passed away while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing. The former lawmaker, who served in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2007, succumbed on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

The news of Nyagudi’s demise was confirmed by close family members, though details regarding the exact cause of his illness remain undisclosed. His passing marks the end of a notable political and religious career that spanned several years.

Rev. Nyagudi rose to prominence in 2004 when he was elected to Parliament in a by-election following the death of Joab Omino. During his tenure, he played an instrumental role in advocating for development projects in Kisumu Town West, particularly in education and infrastructure.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula led the country in mourning the late legislator, expressing his condolences to the family. “I send my heartfelt sympathies to the family of former Kisumu Town West MP Rev. Kenn Nyagudi. I was privileged to have interacted with him when I was the Foreign Affairs Minister,” Wetang’ula stated in a message posted on social media.

Several political leaders, former colleagues, and members of the clergy have also paid tribute to Nyagudi, describing him as a dedicated servant of the people. Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o noted that his contributions to the county’s development would not be forgotten.

Nyagudi was not only a politician but also a religious leader, using his platform to bridge politics and faith. He was known for his strong advocacy on governance and social justice issues.

The family is expected to announce burial arrangements in the coming days. Meanwhile, tributes continue to pour in from different quarters, honoring the legacy of a leader who left a lasting impact on his constituents and beyond.
