Following an accident involving a bus and a lorry in the Othoo locality in Nyando sub-county along the Kisumu – Nairobi Highway, eleven deaths have been officially reported.

Following the 2:30 am collision, several additional passengers were admitted to Ahero Sub-county Hospital and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), according to Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Mwangi, who verified the occurrence.

Two ladies, eight men, and a teenage boy are among the deceased. 53 people have been injured in all as a result of the collision.

According to Mwangi, the bus was trying to pass when it struck an approaching lorry head-on, instantly killing the 11 people inside. The bus was going toward Nairobi.

Tow trucks have taken both cars to the police station in Ahero.
