Osborne Monday Joins Nairobi United as Assistant Coach Ahead of New Season

Nairobi United have strengthened their technical bench with the appointment of former Murang’a Seals head Coach Osborne Monday as assistant coach ahead of the 2026/27 Sportpesa League season.

The highly-rated tactician becomes the latest addition to the club’s ambitious project as they seek to build on an impressive debut campaign in Kenya’s top flight.

Announcing the appointment, Nairobi United said:

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Osborne Monday as our new Assistant Coach. The former Kenyan international joins the Naibois as part of a revamped technical bench that continues to take shape following our successful debut season in the SportPesa League. His arrival is another significant step in our commitment to building a team capable of competing at the highest level.”

Monday joins the Nairobi-based side after a brief stint at Shabana FC, where he had recently been named first assistant coach following his departure from Murang’a Seal.

His move sees him leave a Shabana side that finished fifth in the 2025/26 Sportpesa League standings with 52 points for a Nairobi United team that ended the season one place higher in fourth with 53 points. The switch underlines the growing appeal of Nairobi United, who have quickly established themselves as one of the country’s most ambitious football projects.

Monday has earned widespread recognition within local football circles for his commitment to attractive, possession-based football and his ability to develop competitive teams. During his time at Murang’a Seal, he was praised for helping the club remain competitive despite operating with limited resources, further enhancing his reputation as one of the league’s most promising young coaches.

His arrival forms part of a broader restructuring of Nairobi United’s technical department. The club has already secured the services of experienced Belgian coach Patrick Aussems, who is expected to lead the technical bench. Aussems brings a wealth of experience, having previously worked with AFC Leopards and Tanzanian giants Simba SC among other clubs.

Monday’s appointment represents another significant milestone in his coaching career that has steadily gained momentum since his retirement from playing.

Nairobi United exceeded expectations during their maiden season in the Sportpesa League and are now targeting even greater success. With strategic investments in both the technical bench and playing squad, the club has made its intentions clear. The appointment of Osborne Monday signals a determination to challenge for major honours and continue their rapid rise in Kenyan football.
