Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary General Davji Atellah has confirmed that the union’s social media page has been hacked.
This follows a tweet on KMPDU’s X account on Monday announcing the cancellation of intentions to occupy the Ministry of Health’s offices at Afya House in Nairobi.
KMPDU announced preparations to occupy the premises on Monday, July 8, to ensure that all medical interns are assigned to health facilities around the country in accordance with the 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
According to the notice, the suspension was motivated by ongoing discussions to assure compliance with the CBA agreement.
In a rapid reaction, Atellah called the reports untrue and claimed that the account had been compromised, adding that the strike is still ongoing.
“The union handle has been compromised and we are trying our best to gain control of it and clean. We must overhaul the system including those that have hacked the union handles. We remain strong. We remain focused. Tukutane MoH,” he wrote on X.
