Gor Mahia–AFC Leopards Derby Rescheduled to December 7 After Venue Hitch

The highly anticipated SportPesa League Derby between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards has officially been moved to Sunday, 7th December 2025, at Nyayo Stadium. This follows a formal request from Gor Mahia, who informed the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) of their inability to secure a suitable venue for the original date.

In a letter dated 26th November 2025, Gor Mahia Secretary General Nicanor Arum notified FKF that the club had been unsuccessful in securing an approved match facility for the derby initially scheduled for Saturday, 29th November 2025. The club asked for a postponement to allow time to finalize proper logistical arrangements for a fixture of such magnitude.

FKF has since confirmed the new date and venue, ensuring that the country’s most heated rivalry will now take place at Nyayo Stadium-one of the few grounds capable of hosting the massive attendance the fixture routinely attracts.

The shift gives both teams extra days to prepare, offering a window to manage player fitness, fine-tune tactical setups, and mentally gear up for a contest that always carries emotional weight beyond the points at stake. With Gor Mahia coming off a heavy 4–1 defeat to APS Bomet and AFC Leopards held to a 1–1 draw by Mathare United, the rescheduling offers both sides a timely reprieve to regroup, rebuild confidence, and steady their form ahead of the derby.

With Nyayo Stadium now locked in, supporters from both sides can anticipate yet another electrifying chapter of Kenya’s biggest football rivalry when Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards collide on December 7.
