Newly promoted FKF Premier League side APS Bomet have confirmed the appointment of immediate former Gor Mahia assistant coach Michael Ouma Nam as their new head coach, as they gear up for their debut campaign in the top tier.
The announcement was made through the club’s official social media pages, marking a significant step as the club looks to establish itself at the highest level of Kenyan football.

We’ve officially appointed Michael Ouma Nam as our new Head Coach. Formerly with Gor Mahia, Coach Nam brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the league that we believe will elevate our team to new heights,” read the club’s official statement.
Nam replaces Evans Mafuta, whose CAF ‘B’ coaching badge falls short of the FKF Premier League requirements. Mafuta’s contract is also set to expire next month, and it remains to be seen whether he will be retained in a different capacity within the technical bench.
Nam will lead a technical team composed of:
Mike Muhadia – Assistant Coach
Darshan Lubembe – Team Manager
Sylvester Cheruiyot – Physiotherapist
Fredrick Onyango – Goalkeeper Trainer
Rama Kenga – Kit Manager & First Aider
Nam’s appointment is a statement of intent by APS Bomet, who earned automatic promotion after finishing second in the 2024/25 National Super League (NSL) with 68 points, just behind champions Nairobi United.
The experienced tactician brings with him a strong pedigree, having coached former Ugandan champions Vipers SC, as well as South Sudanese giants Atlabara FC. Most notably, Nam was instrumental in Gor Mahia’s recent domestic dominance, assisting head coach Jonathan McKinstry in securing back-to-back FKF Premier League titles in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.
His unveiling comes just days after the club announced a new long-term shirt sponsorship deal with Family Bank, replacing outgoing sponsors White Rabbit Bet. The partnership is expected to provide critical financial support as the club prepares for life in the FKF Premier League.

With a new coach at the helm and fresh sponsorship backing, APS Bomet’s ambitions are clear to not just participate in the Premier League, but to compete and build a lasting legacy.
