Menengai High School will not take part in the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, after the Nakuru-based school was left out of the official boys’ football fixtures released on Monday.

The development confirms the end of Menengai’s hopes of representing Kenya at the regional championships, despite the school finishing third in boys’ football at the 2026 KSSSA national games.

Menengai’s participation had been uncertain after the school was excluded from the funded travelling contingent amid financial constraints. An appeal was subsequently made to Nakuru leaders, businesses and well-wishers to help raise funds and enable the team to travel to Tanzania.

However, with the official fixtures now released, Menengai is absent from the list of participating teams, confirming that the school will miss this year’s regional competition.

FEASSA 2026 Boys’ Football Fixtures

Kenya will instead have St Mary’s Yala and Kakamega School flying the flag in the boys’ football competition.

St Mary’s Yala has been drawn in Group B alongside Rwanda’s CGF Kigali, Ugandan powerhouse St Mary’s Kitende and hosts Morogoro.

The Kenyan side will begin its campaign against St Mary’s Kitende on Friday, August 14, in what promises to be a difficult opening assignment. Kitende are among the most successful schools in FEASSA history and will provide an early test for the Kenyan representatives.

Kakamega School, the Kenyan champions, are in Group C alongside defending champions Bukedea Comprehensive School of Uganda, Kyadondo Secondary School and Tanzania’s Urambo Day.

Kakamega will open against Kyadondo Secondary School on August 14 at Moro Secondary before facing Bukedea and Urambo in subsequent group matches.

Boys’ Football Groups.

Group A: IPTEM Makamba (Burundi), Nsumba (Tanzania), Amus College School (Uganda), Mbeya Day (Tanzania).

Group B: CGF Kigali (Rwanda), St Mary’s Yala (Kenya), St Mary’s Kitende (Uganda), Morogoro (Tanzania).

Group C: Kakamega School (Kenya), Kyadondo Secondary School (Uganda), Urambo Day (Tanzania), Bukedea Comprehensive School (Uganda).

The 23rd edition of the FEASSA Games runs from August 10 to 22, 2026, in Morogoro, Tanzania, bringing together secondary schools from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi. Football action is scheduled to begin on August 14.
