Kenyan basketball side Nairobi City Thunder has been nominated for Trailblazing Basketball Team of the Year (East Africa) at the East Africa Youth Awards, marking a significant milestone in the club’s growing regional influence.

Team captain Tylor Ongwae has also earned an individual nomination for Sports Personality of the Year, in recognition of his leadership and impact both on and off the court.

The dual nominations highlight the Thunder’s expanding footprint beyond competition — positioning the club as one of East Africa’s emerging basketball brands.
