Deputy President Rigathi has disclosed that President William Ruto granted his wish list in the newly formed Cabinet.
Speaking on Sunday in Kinangop, Nyandarua County, Gachagua expressed satisfaction with the Mt Kenya region’s representation in the Cabinet, stating that they received a fair share.
“Yale yote amefanya sisi tumekubali. Yangu nimetetea na imefanyika. Mimi nimesema niangaliliwe hii na imeangaliliwa,” he said.
This is loosely translated to, “We accept everything he (President Ruto) has done. I gave my wish-list and it was granted. I said he should check on some things and he did.
Gachagua stated that he will continue to protect the Mt Kenya region to guarantee they receive their due share.
The DP, however, warned his detractors not to interpret this as isolating other regions.
“I am guilty as charged. I have no defence that I love my people, that I care for them, that I think about them. That, I am guilty as charged,” he said.
He was quick to add that he values the rest of the country.
This comes just a few days after Gachagua stated that the broad-based Cabinet is a victory for all Kenyans, claiming that no one lost.
He said there were no losers, and the Mt Kenya area is still thrilled since Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau adds to their numbers.
“I have seen many people commenting about gains and losses. Which region got what, which one lost, which one didn’t, who is strong, who is not? I think the whole thing is a win for Kenya,” Gachagua said.
He spoke on Friday at the funeral of Susan Wanjohi in Nyandarua, Laikipia county.
Wanjohi was the mother of Wanjau.
