Nyakach Girls and St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale(Joga), will meet in the 2026 KSSSA National Girls’ Football final at the M-PESA Foundation Academy in Thika, setting up a rematch of their group-stage encounter with the national crown now at stake.

Nyakach, the Nyanza champions, booked their place in the final in emphatic fashion, sweeping aside Raila Education Centre 4-0 in the semi-final. Emily Adhiambo, Peninah, Nancy and Emmaculate were on target as the Plateau Queens maintained their extraordinary run in the tournament.

The result extended Nyakach’s perfect record to four wins from four matches, with the side scoring an astonishing 29 goals without conceding. Their combination of attacking quality, defensive discipline and national-team experience has made them the team to beat heading into the final.

Several members of the squad have been involved with Kenya’s Junior Starlets, including Beryl Awuor and Emily Adhiambo. Beryl was instrumental when the two finalists first met, scoring twice in the opening half to inspire Nyakach to a 2-0 victory over Joga.

That defeat, however, has not derailed the Rift Valley champions.

Joga responded spectacularly in their next match, recording a remarkable 14-0 victory over Kiaritha Girls before drawing 1-1 with Coast champions Kaya Tiwi to progress from Pool A. They then produced a disciplined semi-final display to edge Western region heavyweights Archbishop Njenga Girls 1-0 and secure their place in the final.

For Joga, the final offers an opportunity to avenge their group-stage defeat and deny Nyakach what would be a flawless championship campaign.

At the heart of Joga’s impressive run has been Pearl Olesi, the talented midfielder whose leadership and performances have helped drive the Kitale side’s campaign. Olesi brings valuable international experience, having previously represented Kenya at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.

The final will therefore be more than a battle between two regional champions. It will also bring together several young players who know each other well from their time in the national-team setup.

Olesi now with rising starlets (U20) will come up against Junior Starlets starlets players . With Junior Starlets head coach Mildred Cheche closely following the tournament, the final presents another opportunity for these emerging talents to make their case ahead of Kenya’s next international assignments.

For Nyakach, the mission is to reclaim the KSSSA crown they last won in 2019 and complete a remarkable tournament without conceding a goal. For Joga, it is about redemption after their opening-day defeat and completing a remarkable recovery that has seen them score 15 goals since that setback.

The first meeting went Nyakach’s way. But this time, there is no second chance.

The Plateau Queens want perfection. Joga want revenge. The KSSSA crown awaits one winner.
