Football action resumes this weekend as the FKF National Super League (NSL) returns following a week-long suspension in honour of the late Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, former Prime Minister and ardent football lover. The NSL now enters Round Four, with exciting fixtures lined up across the country as teams look to regain rhythm and extend early momentum in the promotion race.
All matches will kick off at 3:00 PM, except for Gucha Stars’ clash against Vihiga United, which begins at 1:00 PM at Awendo Green Stadium. The kickoff time was adjusted after the venue was switched from Gusii Stadium to Awendo.
After three rounds of play, Migori Youth lead the table with a perfect record of three wins from three matches, narrowly ahead of Mombasa United on goals scored; the second tiebreaker used when teams are level on goal difference. Naivas FC follow closely in third place to complete the top three positions, all of which earn direct promotion to the top tier League. The top three remain unbeaten, with the first two boasting three wins each, while Naivas have two wins and a draw. After defeating MOFA in the last round, Kibera have overtaken the Othoro-based side to move into fourth place, just one point shy of the promotion zone.
In the drop zone, Kisumu All Stars will be hoping for a turnaround after a poor start to the season, having lost both matches and sitting bottom of the table. The All Stars lost their entire technical bench, led by Coach Charles Bruno, to MOFA. Just above them in 19th place is Darajani Gogo, who impressed last season largely thanks to NSL top scorer Varon Ombima, now with KPL giants Gor Mahia. Occupying 18th place is Gucha, a newly promoted side yet to play after recently winning the promotion playoffs. They will make their NSL debut this weekend at Awendo Green Stadium against Vihiga United.
