Government Raises Cotton Prices To Ksh. 65 Per Kilo, A 25% Increase

The price of a kilo of cotton has been raised by the government to Ksh.65.

The new price is a 25% increase above the existing Ksh.52 per kilo charged by ginneries in the country.

According to Industry Principal Secretary Juma Mukhwana, the new rates would be implemented immediately in all cotton-growing regions across the country.

The ministry said it is collaborating with governors from 24 counties to purchase and distribute additional seeds next year.

The government intends to raise cotton output from 40,000 acres this year to 100,000 acres next year.
