Singida Black Stars were crowned 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup champions after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Sudanese heavyweights Al Hilal SC in a pulsating final held at KMC Stadium.

It was Clatous Chota Chama who lit up the final with a stunning individual performance, scoring both goals to power the Tanzanian side to their first regional title. The home crowd, clad in yellow and black, were treated to an afternoon of drama, tension, and eventually, triumph.
Chama opened the scoring in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse from Al Hilal to slot home the opener and send KMC Stadium into wild celebrations. But Al Hilal, tournament regulars and past winners, responded with grit. Abdelrazig Taha drew them level in the 31st minute with a precise finish after a sustained spell of pressure.
The first half ended with the sides deadlocked at 1-1, though not without controversy, as Al Hilal’s technical bench showed visible frustration over refereeing decisions late in the half.

After the break, it was Chama again who proved decisive. In the 58th minute, the Zambian midfielder found space at the edge of the box and curled in a beautiful effort to restore Singida’s lead. The goal sent the stadium into a frenzy as fans rallied behind their team in the closing stages.
Despite late pressure from Al Hilal and a tense final quarter marked by a cooling break and end-to-end action, Singida held firm. The final whistle triggered scenes of joy and celebration as the Tanzanian side lifted the CECAFA Kagame Cup on home soil.

Clatous Chota Chama, the undisputed star of the day, wrote his name into Singida Black Stars’ history books with a match-winning brace and a performance full of leadership, flair, and finishing quality.Singida Black Stars are champions and Chama is their hero.
