Kenya’s defending champions, the Malkia Strikers, have stormed into the final of the 2026 CAVB Women’s African Nations Volleyball Championship after sweeping Cameroon 3-0 at a packed Kasarani Indoor Arena on Thursday night.

Playing under the floodlights, Kenya produced a composed performance to overcome a determined Cameroonian side 25-19, 25-20, 25-20 and keep their title defence firmly on course.

The victory sets up a heavyweight final against three-time African champions Egypt on Friday, with the Malkia Strikers now one win away from successfully retaining their continental crown on home soil.

Egypt booked their place in the final earlier in the day after defeating Rwanda 3-0. The Egyptians dominated the opening set 25-5 before taking the second 25-17. Rwanda fought back strongly in the third set and pushed Egypt into a marathon battle, but the three-time champions held their nerve to win 32-30 and complete the straight-sets victory.

Back at Kasarani, Kenya had another advantage beyond the court, the home crowd.

The Indoor Arena was filled to capacity, with supporters dancing to Kenyan tunes and repeatedly breaking into the famous “Ole Ole!” chants. The electric atmosphere lifted the Malkia Strikers throughout a contest in which Cameroon pushed them hard in all three sets.

Kenya took the opening set 25-19 before maintaining their control in the second, winning 25-20. Cameroon attempted to prolong the contest in the third, but the defending champions stayed composed and closed it out 25-20.

The result sends Kenya into another African final and keeps alive their hopes of retaining the title they are defending but this is the biggest test ,the dream final every Volleyball fan was looking forward to.

Friday’s final, however, carries significance beyond the trophy. The African champions will earn direct qualification for the LA 2028 Olympic Games, while the top three teams at the championship will qualify for the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship.
